Why do our pickup times vary? The number one reason for this would be route changes due to new customers added weekly. There are also times when we take a few minutes to talk with customers along the route. Then there's all the miscellaneous stuff like occasional mechanical issues, washed out creek crossings or short delays as we wait to dump at the transfer station. In spite of all these things, we do try to run very close to the same time each day.
Suspending Trash Service
If you ever need to suspend your trash service for any reason at all just kindly let us know so we can try to work with your situation. This could prevent you from acquiring unnecessary charges.

The 6 holidays that are observed are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Your trash will simply be picked up 1 day later in that week if it is on or after that holiday. All other holidays will be ran as usual.
If you are still receiving snail mail from us, we probably don't have an updated email address for you. Please email us so we'll have it. It saves alot of postage not to mention much faster. Email us at ruraltrash.smith@gmail.com to get on our email notification list!

FAQ's
How much trash can I put out? We haven't had a bag limit so far, as long as it is JUST your family's household trash each week. Our residential service is priced for regular household trash pickup. This doesn't include construction materials or major cleanups etc. We may bill you or even cancel your service if we feel our liberal bag limit is being abused. Please bag all trash before setting it in your cart or can. If it's loose, wet and heavy we may not be able to dump it.
Do you pick up larger items? For an additional fee you can call and be invoiced separately and have it scheduled.
What can I not put in the trash? TV's, anything containing freon, monitors, tires, oil, paint and their containers that aren't empty, yard waste, asbestos, and please keep in mind that if my wife can't lift it she can't take it. We can pick up your automotive battery for recycling.
What if I think my trash has been missed? Don't bring it back in until you contact us first. Usually we've just been delayed by a flat tire or something routine. Each route has a check list and we stay out until our route is complete even after dark if necessary. IF it has been missed, and we ARE human, DO call us! We want to get it picked up. Please don't wait until the weekend and call us all upset. Call within the very next day so we can get your trash picked up soon.
When should my trash be out? We cannot guarantee pickup times. Please have your trash out in plenty of time and secure from nearby animals. We recommend putting your trash out the night before in a good critter-proof container.
Why the account numbers? Thanks to you, we've grown to a point where we need a little help staying organized and scheduled. This has involved software that automatically assigns account numbers. We have always known most of you by name, location, what you drive, where you work or hangout (and in some cases even your dog's name) and we still know who you are.
How to make payment: Regular mail of course, check by phone, cards accepted online through our website only at this time. You may pay your driver if you can catch him or you may use our drop-box at our home/business address. It's just around the corner of our house on the side street attached to our mailbox post (and yes our fat labs will yap-atcha).
Will routes be run during bad weather? Seldom has bad weather stopped us from running, but if this happens we will pick up your trash as soon as conditions improve. No credit is given when bad weather prevents safe travel and working conditions as we will run again as soon as we can. We use FM 97.9 and facebook for our cancellation announcements.
What if my dumpster is in need of repair? We acquired some of you with pre-existing dumpsters that need a little attention. We are in progress of repairing or replacing them. While we are probably aware of your need, feel free to mention yours to us.
Can I suspend my service? If you call BEFORE you leave you sure can. We'll suspend your service and your payment if you need to go out of town for a period of time. Your service and payment will resume when you return. Have a safe trip!
Canceling Service - You are responsible for canceling your service to avoid further charges. Simply email or call us so we won't keep stopping at your house and checking your cans.
Operating Hours: While we may answer the phone later in the evening and on weekends, our normal truck operating hours are Monday-Thursday from 6am until we get the job done. Fridays and Saturdays sometimes when special pickups are scheduled.

Are contracts required for service? Usually no, however, we may enter a contractual agreement for larger businesses in some cases.
Do you have a recycling service? Still workin on that one. We anticipate running a periodic service in select areas in the future where recyclables can be collected efficiently.
Do you take yard waste? Yard waste cannot be placed with your normal trash. We can pick up your yard waste for an additional fee.
Do I have to have weekly service if I don't have much trash? You may set up bi-weekly or even monthly pickup service in SOME locations. There are remote areas we only service monthly.
